RMA Code of Conduct CPD
The Code of Conduct is the second of two mandatory CPD topics for registered migration agents. You must complete at least 1 CPD point on the Code of Conduct each registration year — here's what it covers and how to complete it.
The requirement
At least 1 of your 10 CPD points must be on the RMA Code of Conduct each registration year, counted within your 10 — alongside the separate mandatory ethics point.
What is the Code of Conduct?
The Code of Conduct sets the professional obligations that govern how a registered migration agent must act — with clients, with the department, and with other agents. It's the standard you're held to, and the standard against which complaints are assessed. A refresher matters because the Code is updated over time, and the day-to-day habits it requires are easy to let slip.
What the Code of Conduct CPD covers
- Your core duties of diligence, competence and acting in the client's lawful interest;
- Fees, quotes and handling of client money;
- File notes, record-keeping and client communication obligations;
- Confidentiality and conflicts;
- What has changed under the current (2026) Code, and how it applies in practice.
Live or self-paced?
Like the ethics point, you can complete your Code of Conduct CPD either way:
- Live (Category A): an interactive session that also counts toward your minimum 5 Category A points.
- Self-paced (Category B): a structured online module with assessment, completed in your own time.
