OMARA-approved CPD providers: how to check before you pay

Points only count if both the provider and the activity are approved by the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority. Approval is easy to verify and takes two minutes. Here is how, and what to look for on the certificate afterwards.

The short answer

The OMARA publishes the list of approved CPD providers at mara.gov.au › Before you re-register › Approved CPD providers. Every approved provider has a provider number (Widen CPD is PPA10000420) and every approved activity has an activity number that must appear on your certificate.

Why approval matters

Under the Migration Agents (CPD Activities, Approval of CPD Providers and CPD Provider Standards) Instrument 2026 (LIN 26/001), CPD counts toward repeat registration only when it is delivered by an approved provider as an approved activity. The 2026 instrument also introduced a formal approval framework: provider standards, conditions on approval, and the power to cancel a provider that stops meeting them. A seminar run by a respected firm, a law society session or a university short course earns you nothing toward your 10 points unless it is approved for RMA CPD.

How to verify a provider in two minutes

  1. Find them on the OMARA list. Open the approved-providers page at mara.gov.au and search for the trading name. If they are not there, the points will not count.
  2. Match the provider number. Approved providers quote a number in the form PPA…. It should appear on the provider's website and on every certificate they issue.
  3. Check the activity, not just the provider. Each activity is approved separately, with its own activity number and category (A or B). Ask for it before you book if it is not shown.
  4. Confirm the category. If you are buying points toward your 5-point Category A minimum, the activity must be approved as Category A, which under LIN 26/001 means interactive, real-time participation with a cap of 30 participants per workshop.

FAQ

Where is the official list of OMARA-approved CPD providers?
On the OMARA website at mara.gov.au, under Continuing professional development, Before you re-register, Approved CPD providers.
Does a law society or conference CPD count for migration agent registration?
Only if the provider and the specific activity are OMARA-approved. Legal CPD accredited by a law society does not automatically count toward RMA registration.
What is Widen CPD’s OMARA provider number?
PPA10000420. It appears on every certificate alongside the activity number for the session or module completed.
Can a provider lose OMARA approval?
Yes. The 2026 instrument sets provider standards and conditions, and the OMARA can cancel approval. Activities completed while the provider was approved still count.
